It's that time of year again... time for the dreaded family pics!! Well, for most people it's a great experience, it's fun and entertaining and usually a good laugh. Unless you're not only in the photos but also the one taking them and you have a 6 month old that is completely intent on doing exactly what you don't want... lol :)
Welcome to the yearly Kroeker family photo session :)
In 2011 my wife & I wanted a quick snap for our Christmas card. So we packed our then 3 year old into the car and I whisked us away to the park for "the shot". It was a frigid, cold day! We got to the park, got out of the car, set up the gear and within 3 shots we had the pic we wanted... high fives for everyone, we were done!
Fast forward to 2013...
Same idea pops into my wife's head. Let's get our pics done again. I think back to 2011 and remember what an easy shoot it was. So i agree to it and we get the kids ready. This year though we have an adorable, drooly 6 month old, bouncing, baby boy to add to the family pic. Shouldn't be too hard right??? LOL!
We started the shoot at about 2pm... I could tell from the beginning that this wasn't going to be easy... lol! My wife wanted us all laying on our tummies in the grass. So, I'd set up the camera on tripod and set up the shot. Then I'd hit the timer button and run like a pack of rabid grizzlies were chasing me... I'd slide into the shot just as the shutter clicked. Grass stains on my knees and blood gushing like I was a casualty in a Rambo movie. I'd look over at my crew with a look of satisfaction on my face thinking that we got the shot, only to discover that the baby was anything but impressed! He picked the perfect time to let out a screech and a wail to show how unimpressed he was with this entire thing. I think he calculated the exact time the shutter would click to let out his big, dramatic, juicy sobs. I soon realized after sliding into the pic a half dozen times that we'd have to take what we got... lol!! When I'd point the camera away from the baby he was smiles and giggles... it was like the opening scene of Bambi... all of nature was in perfect harmony. But... point that camera at him, even in his general direction and it was all out chaos lol :)
I am happy to say that we finally wrapped up shooting at around 7pm... a few breaks in between. It was overall an awesome and unforgettable shoot. We got a lot of funny shots that when reviewing them on the screen later we just laughed and laughed. I thought I'd post a few from the shoot here... enjoy :)
