Today Nancy competed in her first National Powerlifting meet held here in St. John's. She qualified for Nationals in October when she competed in her first provincial meet. Today she was up against the best in Canada and she did wicked! It was a proud moment to see my wife on stage lifting insanely, heavy weights. She has been training only 6 months for this and already she has had massive gains and learned some great technique. She is lifting in the 57kg category but weighs just above 52kg (115lbs). She missed her 52kg weight class by just ONE lbs! The weight she is lifting is more than double her own body weight and in her deadlift she lifts nearly triple her own weight! Her coaches have been fantastic and have really inspired her to be great! I can't wait to see where she goes from here. I am certain that we'll see her on the world stage in the very near future, competing with the best in the world and bringing that title home to Newfoundland and to Canada.
Here are just a few pics from this mornings competition at the Holiday Inn, St. John's, NL.
